It’s been quite some time, but I finally finished drawing the other character that goes in the WoW-inspired scenario you can see posted below. Now to color them both and insert them in it.

This image is the uncolored version of one of the two characters that is supposed to be walking through the scenario you saw in an ealier post (two posts down, I believe).

And it’s Friday evening. Sometimes even Saturday.

Nevertheless, they’re good friends and really good clients, the kind that you know are gonna come back with more business – unless, that is, you mess things up. Then you know they’re just gonna take their stuff elsewhere. So, I looked up some images concerning arthritis and all I get is some really freaky imagery of crooked hands and stuff. But I just can’t do that, I mean, that’d just be gross.

So I took a picture of my own hands in some weird position and drew that… and here it is:

And so the client calls me and says “yeah, really great image – but did you know 90% of people with arthritis are women?” And I really didn’t know that… and anyway, the more I looked at the image the more it looked like it was a photo of a couple of guy’s holding hands in bed, while having sex.

So I redid it:

But now that I the sexual interpretation to it was in my head, I just couldn’t get it out of there. Still, that’s clearly a female hand, and I guess an image of a couple (be it gay or straight) going at it in bed is a lot more heartwarming than some crooked hand on the cover of your book anyday.

And the client liked it, too.

So… I’m happy about it. Yeah. But I still have to make the characters which are… like… you know… you main part of the whole commission. So I’m sitting here with a huge grin on my face because I just finished this thing and the client’s probably just looking at it and saying “yeah… but where are the characters?”

Nevertheless, I’m satisfied. Now… back to work!

After it’s done, I’ll produce both the characters walking down the path and insert them into the image. For now, here’s the finished pencil.

After that, we start coloring, and the first step is to color in with flat colors so we can separate the basic parts of the image, in this case: vegetation, wood, rock, ground and sky.

I’ll show more as more gets done.

This is actually the final image, so I just took a picture of the drawing table, cropped it and then editted it a bit in Photoshop so the lines would be a lot more defined. The paper itself looks a lot dirtier than it actually is.
